New Legislation Sets the Stage for

Red Raider Club x Matador Club

College athletics is changing and Texas Tech is ready.

Starting July 1, 2025, NCAA schools will begin a new model called revenue sharing, which allows athletic departments to directly share a portion of their revenue with student-athletes. It’s the most significant shift in decades, and it will define which programs rise, and which ones fall.

Thanks to you, Texas Tech is already leading the charge. Over the past three years, The Matador Club has helped Texas Tech build one of the most successful NIL operations in the country. We’ve set the standard and there’s no reason to be humble about it. We've kicked ass in NIL, plain and simple. That momentum was built by passionate donors and fans like you. And the only way to keep that going… is to keep going.

As we enter a new era of college athletics, the Red Raider Club is proud to announce the integration of the Matador Club under its umbrellaThrough the new Matador Club, the Red Raider Club will lead the effort to provide annual funding for revenue sharing, student-athlete scholarships, and a comprehensive range of programs that elevate the student-athlete experience - both on and off the field. This transformation represents more than a name change; it’s a commitment to adapt, to lead, and to invest in championship-caliber programs and student-athletes.

We're All In

What does this mean for you? It means the NIL-driven momentum and donor impact you've helped build through The Matador Club isn’t going away - it’s being elevated. By bringing these efforts under the umbrella of the Red Raider Club, Texas Tech is unifying its fundraising strategy to prepare for revenue sharing, which becomes a reality starting July 1, 2025.

Texas Tech is entering this new phase with a bold vision: to remain competitive at the highest level, to grow our brand nationally, and to lead - not follow - in the next chapter of college athletics. Together, we’re setting the standard.

FAQs:

What is Revenue Sharing?

Revenue sharing is the next evolution in college sports. Starting in July, schools will be allowed to directly pay student-athletes using a share of athletic department revenue.

This is how elite programs will separate from the rest, and Texas Tech is ready to lead again. NIL helped us build a very strong foundation. Revenue sharing lets us build something even bigger. Your continued support will ensure we remain at the forefront.

What does this mean for Texas Tech Athletics?

As part of the NCAA House settlement finalized on June 6, Texas Tech University is now permitted to share up to $20.5 million of its departmental revenue directly with student-athletes, beginning in the 2025–26 academic year. To support this transformational change, the Red Raider Club will be responsible for generating $14 million annually to help fund Texas Tech Athletics’ new revenue-sharing model. This funding will also support student-athlete scholarships, academic resources, professional development, leadership programming, nutritional offerings, and more. The remaining portion of the revenue-sharing commitment will be supported by University investment and additional Athletics-generated revenue streams. This new chapter marks a bold evolution in collegiate athletics - and Texas Tech is committed to leading the way in building a sustainable, student-athlete-centered future.

Where Are My Donations Going?

Your donations continue to directly support Texas Tech student-athletes and will continue to build championship rosters. That mission isn’t changing. Your donations make a significant impact.

Do I Need To Do Anything?

Nope. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Your donations, the lifeblood of Texas Tech NIL, will now fall under the Red Raider Club name starting in July. But your impact remains the same: You’re supporting student-athletes, building competitive rosters, and helping Tech win at the highest level.

Also, you don’t need to update anything in Givebutter - all recurring donations will continue through the Red Raider Club.

What About Tax Deductions?

The Red Raider Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so your donations will remain 100% tax-deductible, just like they are today.

How Exactly Will The Matador Club be Integrated into The Red Raider Club?

The Red Raider Club annual fund currently generates 28% of Texas Tech Athletics’ total revenue. This vital fund is currently made up of two components: seat contributions and the Excellence Fund. Together, they fully fund all student-athlete scholarships and essential resources, while also determining each donor’s Red Raider Club membership level.
Beginning July 1, the Excellence Fund will transition to The Matador Club. From that point forward, membership levels will be based on a combination of seat contributions and philanthropic gifts to The Matador Club.
As a part of this evolution, The Matador Club will take on an even greater role within the annual fund, serving as the central hub for all revenue-sharing contributions - including recurring annual and monthly gifts. This is where Red Raiders across the country will give to directly impact recruiting, retention, and the shaping of competitive rosters.
By evolving into a key driver of donor support, The Matador Club will carry forward the momentum of our successful NIL collective while becoming a cornerstone of our future-focused fundraising strategy. Maintaining this momentum is critical as we enter a new era of college athletics - one where Red Raiders have a powerful opportunity to help Texas Tech compete, win, and lead.

What is the New Red Raider Club Annual Fund Goal?

Starting in FY26 (September 1, 2025), the total Red Raider Club annual fund goal will be $36,250,000.
This ambitious target combines annual seat contributions with philanthropic gifts to the new Matador Club - now the home for all revenue-sharing and student-athlete support contributions.

Reaching this goal will take all Red Raiders giving at every level. Your support will directly shape rosters, fuel recruiting and retention efforts, and provide critical resources for our student-athletes.

Recurring gifts and broad alumni participation are essential. Together, we can sustain the momentum and power the next era of Texas Tech Athletics.

Will My Gifts Earn Red Raider Club Priority Points?

Yes!

As a continuing supporter of The Matador Club, you’re now officially part of the Red Raider Club family. This transition is seamless on your end, but the impact is even greater moving forward.

What Should I Do Next?

Keep supporting Texas Tech!

Your support is helping us take bold steps into the future of college athletics. In the coming months, you’ll receive more information about your Red Raider Club donations and membership, but for now, no action is needed and nothing is changing.

Our Goal: $14 Million.

Our Strategy: All of Us.

Texas Tech has set a clear goal: raise $14 million annually including a $2 million annual recurring goal through grassroots support to meet our revenue-sharing, scholarship, and student-athlete experience needs. And we have the network to make it happen. With over 200,000 living alumni, the path forward is simple:

  • If just 10% of alumni gave $20/month, we’d surpass our goal - and position Texas Tech among the top programs in the country.
  • If 8,333 Red Raiders gave at $20/month, we'd reach our goal.
  • Or just 1,667 Red Raiders gave $100/month, we'd reach our goal.

Whether you give $20 or $100, your support fuels championships. This isn’t just about hitting a number, it’s about standing up for Texas Tech at a defining moment in college athletics. Why now? Because the landscape is changing fast. Conference realignment is looming. Revenue sharing begins in 2025. Programs that adapt and invest will thrive. Those that don’t - won’t. We’ve already proven what happens when Red Raiders rally in just the past 6 months:

  • Elite Eight Appearance in Men’s Basketball
  • Women's College World Series appearance in Softball
  • Big 12 Championship sweeps in Men's & Women's Track & Field
  • No. 1 Football Transfer Class in the Country
  • Four consecutive Bowl Game Appearances

This momentum didn’t happen by accident. It happened because fans, donors, and alumni stepped up. But the next step forward is even more critical - and it’s going to take all of us.

Our strength is in our numbers. Our edge is our pride. The time is now.

The Future is in Our Hands

College athletics has constantly evolved, reshaped by new rules, new challenges, and new opportunities. The days of traditional amateurism are gone, and while some may push back against NIL and revenue sharing, the reality is clear: adapt or get left behind.

But here’s the truth - our commitment isn’t to the landscape, it’s to the Red Raiders who wear the Double T. The same Red Raiders we cheered for in 1970. The same ones we rallied behind in 1993 during a national title run. The same Red Raiders who delivered unforgettable bowl wins, deep March Madness runs, trips to Omaha, and national championships on the track. The game has evolved, but our passion, our pride, and our purpose remain the same. This is our moment to secure Texas Tech’s place among the elite, to stand together as one, and to ensure that generations to come have a program they can believe in. The fight is here. The time is now. Will you rise with us?
